After downloading all the files and going through the over one hundred emails I received on the last day for entries (January 18), I have compiled some data about the entries. There were a total of 155 entries from artists in 47 different countries around the world. (Some of the emails in my box at the end of January 18 were duplicates and other things not related to entries and that is why I thought there might be about 170 entries!)
These countries had the most artists submitting a proposal:
14 from USA
14 from Italy
13 from Taiwan
13 from Germany
It was interesting that this year we also got entries from some countries that have not participated before. For the first time, I believe, we had one artist from each of these countries: Haiti, Macedonia, Lithuania, Pakistan, Mongolia, Iraq, Georgia, Estonia, Egypt, and Armenia.
This year we had more entries from African countries. We got entries from these African countries: Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and Uganda.
This year there also seemed to be many artists applying as a team of two artists. We had 6 applications from artist teams of two people.
Many artists who entered were born in one country and now live in another. I counted these as representing the country of their birth, but really sometimes it is difficult to tell what country’s culture they would represent in Cheng Long！
We will announce the selected artists on the Blog by 17 February. Please do keep your eye here!!
